The P21 Framework was developed to help practitioners integrate skills into the teaching of core academic subjects. The P21 has developed a unified, collective vision for learning known as the Framework for 21st Century Learning.
This Framework describes the skills, knowledge, and expertise students must master to succeed in work and life. It is a blend of content knowledge specific skills, expertise and literacies. The essential skills for success in today’s world include the following:
1. Learning and Innovation Skills
2. Information, Media, and Technological Skills
3. Core Subjects and 21st Century Themes
4. Life and Career Skills
As our world recognizes increased globalization, people must approach lifelong learning with a “World Citizen” mindset. The World Citizen Certificate Programs are based onthe Framework for 21st Century Learning. The World Citizen Alliance has worked together to devise six customized civility certification programs to address applications of 21st Century essential skills. The certificate streams include:
- Global Teacher
- Children/Youth Practitioners
- Leadership Roles
- General Business
- Service /Hospitality/Tourism
- World Citizens (general/core)
